Stacy Kolls (Illinois)

Stacy Kolls is based at C77, Poplar Grove Airport, Poplar Grove, Illinois.

I had successfully obtained my 3rd class medical on special issuance. I am Type 1 diabetic long term (40 years). I’m involved with my local EAA Warbirds Squadron, volunteer at air shows and events locally. Had my taildragger intro flight in an L-4 (military version of the J-3 Cub). I am very passionate about historical and nostalgic aspects of aviation. I feel that life begins at pattern altitude.

Never completed my license. Ran out of funds shortly after my first solo flight.

The bulk of my work has been in a Cessna 152, but I have had an intro lesson in an L-4 and a T-6.

Dream Taildragger: Stinson L-5

About Taildragging: It’s hard to explain. There is just something that makes me feel nostalgic, like I’m connecting with the history of aviation when I’m in a taildragger.
