Pat Ohlsson is based at 7FL6, Spruce Creek Airport, Dayton, Florida.

Pat & N30937, her newly purchased 1940 J-3 Cub

I started flying in 1974 at Islip Airport, Long Island, New York. Since that time I have had a great time flying and over the years earned Commercial SEL, SES, (Instrument) MEL, (Instrument) Glider, Instructors license and ground instructor. Also ground school for DC8 flight engineer. Passed with a 98%, higher than a friend of mine who worked for Pan American World Airlines for years, and always a personal joke between us, getting a score 11 more than him.

I am a Life Member of the 99s International Organization of Women Pilots since 1976 and was awarded the Amelia Earhart Scholarship for my Multi Engine rating in 1983.

Lynn O'Donnell signing my log book. Lynn was loads of fun to fly with and in that short time we had many a laugh.

Recently purchased a 1940 J-3 Cub and my friend Lynn O’Donnell signed me off on my tailwheel endorsement in N30937. Lynn taught in J-3′s at Williamsport, Pa where the Cubs were manufactured and recently retired from United Airlines as a 767 Captain.

I’ve owned a 1976 Grumman Tiger, N74359, since February 9,1979 (only owned by a woman).

Now my Tiger has a Cub!

Currently I am in real estate sales at the Premier Residential Airpark, Spruce Creek Fly-In, Daytona Beach, Florida (east coast of Florida) with Spruce Creek Fly-In Realty. Would love to share information about where we are or just take a look at http://www.fly-in.com/ for the fun of it. Where can you sit or show property as airplanes taxi by your window as you work.

I would love to share experiences with other Lady Taildragger Pilots. We are so fortunate to be able to fly.

The very best to all.

Barbara Hunt is based at KTAN, Taunton Municipal Airport – King Field, Taunton, Massachusetts.

Barbara & Citabria at Long Lake, NY

Well, I first met my husband while I when I was 17 and attending Cornell. He was in ROTC and hoping to “fly jets”, and I was only interested in being a champion runner, and scholar.

RV8 at home at KTAN

But, both the jet guy, and flying, eventually got into my system and now I spend my days and nights thinking about the sky, and the earth (still a runner at heart), and our children.

Flying at Brodhead

I had a Champ, which I loved, and exchanged for my Citabria on straight floats. We also have an RV-8, which is quite a trip to roll in the sky over my house.

In my Grumman AA1B

It’s Dec. 26th here in MA and I just said to my husband “I really want to go flying tomorrow!”

Ice on the ponds

We flew in my little Grumman AA1B yesterday. Here in New England winter flying is somewhat limited, but I do get out year round when weather permits!

PS My dream is to fly my seaplane to all the lakes in Maine.

Conny Paulusberger is based at LOLK Ried-Kirchheim, Ried, Upper Austria.

Cornelia Paulusberger, at LOLS for a cup of coffee!

Hi there! My name is Conny and I love to be in the air! I started flying at Ried-Kirchheim airfield when I was 19.

Flying over Upper Austria in autumn

Most time I fly gliders and motorgliders like SF25C, Blaink L-13, Ka8, ASW15, LS4, DG100, Grob Astir and Twin Astir.

My super Falke

I love to fly taildraggers like the cute, old SF25C and I also did my first solo flight on this plane. My sister and I love to visit different airfields for a cup of coffee with the old SF25C Falcon.

Me an the OE-9164

But I also like to fly gliders. Especially old gliders like Grunau Baby!

I Love Blanik!

It´s amazing to fly in a open glider, feeling the wind in your face and flying in the thermal lift with some sea gulls!

My sweetheart

Best regards,
Conny Paulusberger

So what do you think girls??

Girls, here’s a message from a nice guy with a big question and he’s struggling to figure it out. He thinks if there’s a group of  girls anywhere with the answer, it ought to be here. This is your chance to be “Dear Abby” because he wants your advice.  Help “Fixnflyr” and leave a Comment.

If you've got an opinion, let's hear it!

“I am looking for some advice. I would like my wife to learn to learn to fly and get her pilot’s license. I have been flying since 1989. I have my ATP, A&P/I.A. and about 600 hrs. tailwheel.

We are in the aircraft maintenance business and she does my books and also is a nurse. Our youngest son has his private and our oldest son is 75% to getting his private. We have a private airstrip and business at our home. We just finished a 10 unit T-hangar with nice kitchen/lounge for customers, hangar storage and a new fuel farm is on the way. We are also building a new runway so we will have 2 and developing our property into a private airport. We have had about 30 airplanes since 1990 and have taken some nice trips in them together. She dosen’t mind flying if we are “going somewhere”. Her car (Honda Pilot) license plate reads “AV8RS”. As you can see we are aviation people. She has always told me she would learn to fly one day but I don’t think that will be too soon. We have been married 27 years and I have learned not to push her too hard and respect her answers. She is more important to me than any of the aviation and I don’t want to hurt her feelings in any way. I think her flying alone may be the problem with her not wanting to learn to fly. I really think she would love it (as I do) once she gets her confidence built up from her solo flights. I would love to buy or build her whatever taildragger she wants.

What should I do?

Can you post this for me so I can get a ladies only opinion?

Also I would love to host a fly’in for your group when the weather warms up.

Thank you very much,

Fixnflyr”

I orginally learned to fly 20 years ago in tricycle gear planes. I quit flying for a number of years but could not get flying out of my head. So I bought Husky A-1 from the State of Utah with the thought it would be far more fun to have a plane I could land in the backcountry. I love the challenge of flying a taildragger.

Here is the latest picture of my 140 and my son, James

Hi…my name is Lorrie Nebrig and I am a taildragger pilot. I own the 1948 Cessna 140 that I bought with my father over 30 years ago.  I am based in Prescott, Arizona at KPRC.  The 140 is hangared here in Prescott, and I am enjoying watching my 10 year old son learning how to fly the 140 as well as our Grumman Cheetah.  We enjoy flying the 140 and doing a lot of air camping throughout the Southwest.

Thanks,

Lorrie

I started flying later in life, at age 48.  I learned how to fly gliders first.  I own a Pegasus glider.  Two years ago another glider pilot, Connie Buenafe, asked me if I wanted to buy a taildragger with her.

Connie Buenafe is in the left seat and I am in the right

She knew I had wanted to learn power in a taildragger.  I had just bought a house and didn’t have the money so I turned her down.  She paid for the plane, put my name on it and let me make interest free payments.  Thanks to her generosity and kindness I was able to pay her off in a year.  We own a Cessna 140 together and are having a blast!

Connie and I flew the C 140 from Moriarty to Tuscon last summer for the Women Soaring Pilots Association conference.

Glider arrives!

Our photo and a short description of the conference is in the December 2011  issue of “Soaring Magazine”, page 38.

Flying the Big Horn Mountains

December 21st, 2011 | 2 Comments

Wow, it’s late December and Lisa’s still able to fly without skis in Wyoming. Be sure and double click on the pictures so you can appreciate the elk and the wild horses, a sight you’ll never see in my neck of the woods. And Lisa, I sure could have used this ‘Santa Super Cub Girl’ picture in the Christmas video! Love it!!

-

From Lisa Martin, Worland, Wyoming:  I am packing some flying in while the weather holds. Can hardly believe it’s winter with the balmy (40*) and calm we’ve had the last couple days. Had been too busy to fly for about 3 weeks so Saturday flew east to the Big Horn Mountains to check on “my” elk. I have about 1,000 I like to keep an eye on.

Elk herd

When I got back to the airport, I made my shortest landing ever…to a full stop before the VASI lights! I was HAPPY (Sparky Imeson’s ‘Mountain Flying Bible’ has lots of good tips). John said he would have told me “Nice landing” but I was so busy telling him how great my landing was that he couldn’t get a word in. Today, Sunday, I headed west to check on “my” horses (wild horses that I like to keep an eye on).

Wild horses!

The two babies I adopted this spring, and named ‘Blueberry’ and ‘Blackberry’ look fat and sassy.
Merrry Christmas!
