“Things are the same with me — still flying my Scout although we’re having a snowy winter so it has greatly reduced my flight time. I’m working on my CFI this winter instead (advanced ground right now). When the snow storm pattern weakens (usually March or April), I should have some adventures to Hell’s Canyon and will send photos then.”

“I see that more are joining all the time. Great!”
“I am still the co-owner of Extra 200 9PB with my husband David Underwood. It is 13 degrees this morning in Naperville, Illinois and I am so glad the bird is keeping warm in its heated hangar. We are headed to Florida early January for a quick trip to Sanibel Island — if it is warm enough we will fly the Extra down to Chris Rudd who will do our annual. If it is just too cold to go we will wait until March!”

“We used to brag about flying every single month of the year in Chicago winters. We are just getting too old now. So we are waiting for the 2011 (IAC aerobatic) season this spring.”
Thank you to new found friend Wayne Bressler who hosts www.Taildraggersinc.com. Wayne sent me a very cool sticker… tiny… but Oh So Cool! I know it’s hard to believe but Wayne seems to love taildraggers as much me!!
Here’s the link for anybody that wants to jazz up their taildragger, hangar, car…..
This is a radio transmission worth a listen to all pilots…
“Here is a radio exchange between Cleveland Center controllers Stephanie Bevins, Marvin McCombs and Kalitta 66, a Learjet based in Ypsilanti, Michigan. KL66 suffered an insidious leak which caused depressurization of the aircraft. Listen to the audio and read the dialog as ATC figures it out.”
“Following Bevin’s initiative, McCombs begins bringing the aircraft to the lowest altitude available in order to alleviate the possible oxygen deprivation. Unable to answer questions, the pilot is only able to respond to direct commands that the controllers now begin to voice.”Descend and maintain,” they repeat.”
I met Selina Smith at Oshkosh this summer strolling around the Vintage lineup. She flew her Stinson 108-3 from Powell River, British Columbia, Canada and was having a great time relaxing & enjoying a beer under her wing. She seemed like quite an adventurer and the perfect fit for our Lady Taildraggers group! Hope to hear from Selina soon.
From Mireille Goyer, Centennial of Women Pilots, Event Organizer
Dear Participants,
On December 5, Karlene Pettit is organizing a huge event in Renton, WA, with the goal of introducing between 150 and 1000 girls and women to flying.
I would like to ask everyone who has registered to contribute to this campaign to show his or her support for Karlene’s effort. Please conduct introductory flights at your local airport on December 5. If you can’t fly, please ask one of your pilot friends to take a girl or woman on an introductory flight for you.
Together, we will send a loud message: “Women pilots’ history does matter and is celebrated enthusiastically”. Let’s make sure that girls and women worldwide know that we welcome them to our unique world and are eager to share flying with them.
So mark your calendar, invite girls and women to fly, and on Sunday December 5, share flying with someone new.
Is there a better place to be than in an airplane, flying, on a Sunday?
